ABOUT

Crafting energetic architecture through fractal geometry.

Interior of bathroom with green marble floor, dark tiled shower wall, and sculptures displayed on pedestals near a large window overlooking a green outdoor area.

Star Tile was co-founded by Mikayla and Andrea, brought together by a shared reverence for nature, organic geometries, and beauty as intelligence.

We believe design should be healing.

We integrate biomimetic geometry, drawing from the fractal structures and mathematical harmonies found in the natural world and the human body.

These patterns aren’t just aesthetic.

They’re biologically resonant.
Proven to regulate the nervous system and restore coherence.

We create handcrafted installations for those seeking more than beauty.

Spaces that hold presence, memory, and meaning.

This is not surface design.

This is energetic architecture.

Star Tile is a ceramic atelier and materials studio based in Joshua Tree.

Flat, layered seashells with spiral shapes and ridges, arranged on a light-colored surface.
BRINGING NATURE’S INTELLIGENCE INTO FORM

Studies show that exposure to fractal patterns can regulate the nervous system, enhance cognitive ease, and reduce stress by up to 60%.

The Designers

Mikayla Mitchell and Andrea Keller are the co-founders and designers of Star Tile, a design studio operating at the intersection of nature, beauty, geometry, and the built environment.

Mikayla brings an attuned sensitivity to how space is experienced. She guides the experiential direction of the studio and the translation of energetic ideas into lived environments, shaping how each project moves, feels, and connects. Her work centers on the emotional and sensory dimension of space, creating environments that soften, open, and dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, restoring a sense of intimacy with nature.

Andrea brings a lifelong study of sacred geometry, symbolic systems, and proportion into the work. With over 25 years of architectural experience, she develops the underlying spatial frameworks that organize and structure each project. Her approach is rooted in pattern, order, and the intelligence of form, using geometry as a tool to shape space at a foundational level.

Their work moves between structure and feeling, geometry and sensation, framework and flow. Andrea develops the geometric language that grounds each environment, while Mikayla shapes how space is energetically experienced. Together, this creates environments that are both grounded and alive, designed with precision yet deeply felt.

Mikayla holds a B.S. in Finance from San Diego State University and an MBA from Pepperdine University. Andrea holds a B.A. in Design of the Environment from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Architecture from UCLA, and has taught at USC School of Architecture and Otis College of Art + Design.

Together, their work is rooted in a shared commitment to creating spaces that restore connection, evoke feeling, and bring the intelligence of the natural world into the home.
